SADV is an innovative dual-treatment program that targets
both domestic violence AND substance abuse treatment in one setting. SADV functions as an alternative or supplement to the
Ontario Domestic Violence Court PAR program, and may be appropriate for men who do
not abuse substances as well.
SADV is based on an approach developed at the Yale School of Medicine. Learn more
12 week group program designed as treatment for men criminally charged with domestic violence, with or without co-occurring substance abuse issues
Program available by court mandate or self-referral - available both at the bail stage or as part of probation
Program congruent with probation and/or conditional sentence conditions that direct the client to attend counselling for substance abuse, anger management or general mental health treatment
Letter of enrollment provided and status reports provided upon request
Certificate and detailed individualized report provided upon completion
Maximum 12 participants/group
Program delivered by a Registered Social Worker
